About... Nigel William Smith

Born Scunthorpe 1959. Educated at Frederick Gough Comprehensive School and John Leggott College in Scunthorpe. Graduated from Bradford University in 1981 with a degree in Electronic Engineering, since which I have not travelled widely in this country or abroad.

JPG of Nigel (c 1997) From the start of 2001, I have a new job as 'Group IT Manager' for Hexadex, which is the holding company for Eminox and Teconnex. Previously, for over 12 years I was 'IT Manager' for Eminox, who manufacture exhaust systems for trucks and buses. Eminox have a head office in Gainsborough, with branches at Abingdon and Stoke. Teconnex are based in Keighley. From 2002 we have a company in Sweden - Swenox with a factory in Nykoping and a technical centre in Gothenborg.

In between the cooking, cleaning and gardening, my hobbies and interests include anything connected with astronomy, space, radio, electronics, maps, aircraft, science, current affairs, history, and computers.

I also have a large collection of non-fiction books.

I have an amateur radio licence, class-A and my callsign is G4EQD.

My involvement in sport is mainly of the arm chair variety, although I have been known to play the odd game of badminton, and I am currently learning how to play 'pool'. I am a big fan of motor racing and my main claim to fame is that I share the same birthday as ex-F1 and IndyCar world champion Nigel Mansell (8th Aug).
